GRUNDY, VA--- Buchanan County attorney and businesswoman Nikki Stiltner has announced that she will be seeking the Republican nomination for Commonwealth’s Attorney. Stiltner, a former prosecutor in both Buchanan and Tazewell Counties says she will bring a fresh perspective to the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office.
“I am a prosecutor at heart, not a politician,” she said. “As the next Commonwealth’s Attorney, my sole mission is to take the politics out of the prosecutor’s office and focus on keeping the victims and their families safe
from violent crime.”
For nearly a decade, Stilner has prosecuted a wide range of cases from domestic violence to armed robbery, rape, and murder. She has also taught and assisted with training classes at the Southwest Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy and says a working relationship with law enforcement officers is critical to being an effective prosecutor.
“This past year, we have seen what happens when radical leftists wage war on the brave men and women in law enforcement. I have worked with officers in prosecuting some of the most violent crimes in our region. Buchanan County citizens deserve a prosecutor who will work with our brave men and women in law enforcement, not against them.”
Stiltner began her career as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney i
Tazewell County before joining her family business as General Counsel for
Austin Sales/Virginia Drilling while also serving as a part-time Assistant
Commonwealth’s Attorney for Buchanan County. She is a graduate of Grundy High School, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia and a Juris Doctor from the Appalachian School of Law. She resides in the Vansant area and is a member of Vansant Church of Christ, Grundy Women’s Club, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Chamber of Commerce.
The method of nomination by the Buchanan County Republican Party will be determined and announced at a later date.
